VIA PERMISSION IN SHIPPING

VIA PERMISSION IN SHIPPING

VIA PERMISSION IN SHIPPING FOR THE EXPORT SHIPMENT

Sometimes your freight forwarder asks sir! Do you want to load the container on VIA basis? And your question is what is the VIA permission?

Each & every container has vessel cut off, explained in below example before that cut off you have to enter your container at port

Suppose, if you have export shipment from Ahmedabad ICD to Jebel Ali port and vessel plan is as per below

Ex: Ahmedabad
Pol: Mundra
Pod: Jebel Ali
Container: 20Ft
Vessel: Emirates 007
Cut Off: 07/03/2018
ETA: 08/03/2018
ETD: 09/03/2018

As per above vessel plan, your container must be reached at Mundra port before vessel cut off 07/03/2018 after customs clearance. Now, If due to late custom clearance or transportation your container gated in at port on 08/03/2018 after vessel cut off then you have to take permission from the shipping line to load this container on planned vessel Emirates 007 by paying extra money. It could be $50 per container or depend on the shipping line. That is call VIA permission

Meaning of the above short form:
Ex: Export
Pol: Port of loading
Pod: Port of departure
ETA: Estimated time of arrival
ETD: Estimated time of departure
Cut Off: before this date, your container must be reached at port

VIA permission is always subject to approval from the shipping line, it will take 12 hours to 24 hours for the approval
